Apocalyptic Playdate Diorama-creepy kids shadow box-halloween art assemblage-strange character mixed media
 
This little box (5x5x2") started out unfinished and I really went to town having fun with it. I painted it in a metallic red wine shade and sprayed mica throughout. Then on the trim and outsides of the box, I made up an ash colored sooty paste, hence the apocalyptic reference. The trim also has an embellished cog wheel, a key, and a small spider I placed inside orange glitter resin. Two kids (upcycled toys) and a leftover cat have a playdate with a sword and full attire. Small dice cubes are up top, along with more cogs and wheels. I made three different glittered resin cabs and place upcycled earrings on each one. They represent planets with their own strange dark moons, which can be seen from earth. 
 
This piece is handmade and one of a kind. There may be small imperfections, which is consistent with vintage and handmade items. Each box is made carefully with love and hopefully, will make you smile. Sometimes, I don't see strands of glue left behind right away but, if it's there, it's no big deal to tweeze it off. It can hang with the sawtooth hanger on back or sit freestanding.
 
My shadowbox pieces are eclectic and made from combinations of used and found objects, vintage items, and store purchased finds. I try to upcycle with various pieces when allowable and mix them with modern pieces for a diverse and unique assemblage. I've tried to capture the details in photos so please, look very carefully before purchasing.

The items inside are not removable. They are glued in with very strong-bonding glue.
