Mermaid Rock is in the Atlantic. Whereas Sea Maiden Song has a hint of seaweed, Mermaid Rock is the sea itself. It’s the slippery, slimy, mossy rock she likes to inhabit, that’s soaked with sea weed, sea kelp, anemones, brine, and musky driftwood. She warms herself with notes of bergamot, grapefruit, and salt air. But, this scent is more raw. It captures the animalic notes of ambergris, the gray musk of the sea. It’s the mineral essence of cool coastal waters and ocean swept moss and brine. Soft nuances of neroli and orange blossom intertwine briefly, but Mermaid Rock is all about that which is wind swept. It’s cooler ocean waters that are darker and moodier, where the waves are extreme and not swimmable, unless you’re a mermaid. But, she does have a softer essence of her own too, with violet, jasmine, and orchid, the colors of her. And it’s her type of shoreline, where one can find seaglass, pieces of driftwood, cypress trees and multi-colored remnants of scales, from where this mermaid once landed but, soon departed to swim back to her rock.
