Mon Boudoir Perfume Oil - vintage violet chypre, spicy green carnation, rose rice powder, perfumed dusting powder, 1950’s coral red lipstick, amber.
A lady’s vintage dressing room all her own. She sits on her soft cushioned pedestal, glamorously applying her own shade of bright coral red lipstick, a mixture of vermillion, cadmium red & carmine. She expertly applies a thin line of smoky black eyeliner and finishes her complexion off with rose scented rice powder. She purposely powders her skin with her favorite perfumed dusting powder, using her large fluffy ivory powder puff. She finishes everything off with her vintage scent, placed in a special Avant Garde bottle with a dabber cap. She dabs with expertise here and there, against her skin. She knows the spots where she’ll get the most results.
The name for this scent has been sitting on the back shelf for ten years. Literally. It’s a label I’ve kept until the perfect moment of inspiration. The moment I decided to make what would be my signature boudoir scent. Most likely, I’ll never have my own private chambers for dressing and getting ready so, my bedroom will have to suffice. I’m a vintage gal at heart and this is what I imagine my own boudoir would smell like. And much of the bedroom does have these scents lingering around from time to time. They are mostly night scents for me.
Violet is the first floral scent that comes to mind and is among my favorite florals. There would definitely be a vintage violet chypre accord floating in the room followed by the spiciness of carnation. The fragrances of my grandmothers and great-aunts were a most cherished, and relished after item. The waxy accord of applying their lipstick is a much sought after scent memory, almost like soft roses and vanilla mixed underneath the waxy base. Although I have an entire drawer dedicated to lipsticks, their scents don’t compare to those back in the day. My maternal grandmother & great aunts would be a mixture of bright corals and deep reds and the paternal side would be more natural pinks and earth tones. My shades range all over the color spectrum from beige, pink, purple, orange, red, greige, and some greens and blues. I still keep jars of perfumed dusting powders in my favorite perfume scents. Rose scented rice facial powder with amber notes is another memory. My Nanny’s was even a soft translucent rose color.
Mon Boudoir is a vintage violet chypre with spicy carnation and orris accord, slight rose scented facial powder, waxy bright red 1950’s lipstick, and a perfumed dusting powdery base.
