That shiver in the night. That moment, the frisson..The tingling sensation you get where your skin prickles with goosebumps. Is it emotional, physical, or a combination of the two? Is it adrenaline? I think it can be from just about anything. That shiver of amusement you get when another person just “gets” it. That chill when you walk through a cold spot, and you always know where it will be. That moment of hearing music that makes you want to weep or jump with joy. The disquiet that comes from the unknown.

A nocturnal frisson is somewhat different though. It’s the awakening in the middle of the night by that “something” or waking up in a cold sweat, freezing, with tingling skin. And this feeling can arise when you're wide awake too. I remember awakening like this several times but one time when I was 15 years old or so, I got up out of bed, looked outside my window, and the house across the street was in flames. Luckily, the people inside survived, but the house did not. They didn’t even know their house was engulfed in flames and would have perished, had that “something” not awakened me. Or, that moment in the dark, when you’re about to open a closet door, and you pull your hand away suddenly, not realizing, yet realizing, that someone is inside waiting. But, everyone has their own stories. All I can say is to trust those moments of heightened fear or arousal or intuition, because usually your instinct will be correct.

Nocturnal Frisson is a lychee lover’s delight with notes of lychee, rooibos tea, fresh strawberries, cantaloupe, and notes of fruity plum. Notes of pink pepper, saffron, and rosemary add hints of spice to the fruity concoction and these notes are layered over a bed of soft Japanese Musk and ylang accord. It’s a red fruit accord, almost reminiscent of a juicy sweet plum wine.
