What scents do we think of when we see the color rosegold? This shade has been popular for many years now, whether it’s fashion, jewelry, cosmetics, etc. It’s always been a fascinating shade for me since I like to categorize colors into scents, just like my numbers have colors. This is another interesting one I’ve been working on with many versions but, this one is my choice. I’ve never come across any other perfume that smells like this. It’s eccentric, intense, bold, and uplifting, yet grounding. It helps me with the ‘get up and go’ vibes. Although, it’s very energetic, it’s also meditational and restorative.
Rosegold is a high powered, juiced up scent for the new year. It’s one of those scents you’ll either like, or not. It’s bold, with the exuberant scent of Turkish Rose, muddled with dark roseplum and hints of iris and lily. It’s robust with peppered, zesty candied ginger. The sweet, tart scent of midnight pomegranate and doughy, cinnamon note of persimmon berry add ripened fruits to the mix. Sugared juicy plum, with a hint of spice, trails in to make an appearance, along with boozy-like geranium rose. Egyptian Musk provides a mild earthy undertone. But, the stealer of this show is the spicy, resinous green scent of galbanum mixed with rose. I’m in love with everything about Rosegold from the top note of Turkish Rose, middle notes of boozy rose geranium and candied ginger, to the smooth base notes of galbanum and tonka. Top notes are strong Turkish Rose and galbanum intermingled but, it drys down quickly to a softer galbanum and tonka smoothness.
The essential oil of galbanum is not only used in perfumes and incense, but has been claimed to have many medicinal health benefits, such as, an anti-inflammatory for arthritis, a decongestant, and even for emollience, among many other restorative properties. This essential oil has been used since biblical times. Although, I make no claim to these health benefits.
