Scarecrows Don't Lie Autumn Diorama-autumn shadow box-fall art assemblage
 
This little 5 x 5 x 1" box started out unfinished. I stained it with a maple wash and gave it a distressed look and then painted it a vibrant, yet light blue. It reminds me of the color of the sky on a bright sunshiny autumn day. The golden light of fall always makes the sky look bluer because gold and blue are very complimentary of each other. To me, this was the perfect shade of blue for an autumn sky. 
 
The outside of the box is trimmed with floral cabs and autumn leaves. Inside is a scarecrow that wants everyone to know, he's not just something made from straw. He is true. He is real. He is honest. Tiny pumpkins and gourds sit atop square bales of hay. I made resin cabs with very miniature jack-o-lanterns, cats, and bats inside them. There's a small jar I made with resin that contains varying shades of glitter. This represents food for the little squirrel and crow that accompany mister scarecrow. They both believe him, that he is real, because scarecrows don't lie. 
 
This piece is handmade and one of a kind. There may be small imperfections, which is consistent with vintage and handmade items. Each box is made carefully with love and hopefully, will make you smile. Sometimes, I don't see strands of glue left behind right away but, if it's there, it's no big deal to tweeze it off. It can hang with the sawtooth hanger on back or sit freestanding.
 
My shadowbox pieces are eclectic and made from combinations of used and found objects, vintage items, and store purchased finds. I try to upcycle with various pieces when allowable and mix them with modern pieces for a diverse and unique assemblage. I've tried to capture the details in photos so please, look very carefully before purchasing.

The items inside are not removable. They are glued in with very strong-bonding glue. 
Please do not pull on objects, as they can be removed with enough force.
