This scent, named after the movie, The Big Blue, is like bright sunshine. It’s like walking on a sandy beach while it’s sunny, heading into crystal seaspray, clean and fresh, after you’ve been swimming and your body is dried by salty air. You can smell the scent of sunbathers with hints of coconut and tropical frangipani. And those are merely hints, because the star of this scent is neroli and orange blossom. The mix of the two make this scent narcotic and intoxicating. Neroli, with its clean, salt and mineral accord and orange blossom, honeyed, heady and sweet, brightened with bergamot on a base of amberwood.

The Big Blue was the name of a movie back in the late 80’s. It was about free divers. It wasn’t a popular movie but, I loved it. Much of it took place underwater, which would be my home if it were up to me. The music soundtrack to the movie is very soothing, bordering on 90’s New Age sound. But, the thing I enjoyed most about watching the show, many times, was the dolphins in it.

When I was even younger, and we’d go to aquariums, I’d always stand beside the pool. I knew I’d be getting wet, but that never bothered me. I loved that part! I stood there patiently throughout the show, in hopes I’d be the one chosen to be pulled in the little dingy behind the dolphins whenever it came time for that part of the show. But, it wasn’t meant to be. Every single time, year after year, there was always a little blond haired girl with blue eyes who was chosen to “ride” behind the dolphins, not the lone little gal with long dark curly hair, skin bronzed and darkened by spring and summer sunshine, and golden green brown eyes. It never mattered where we were, it was always the same, even though it was a different girl every time. Don’t get me wrong though. I love all you blond gals with blue eyes too! I even go so far as to have blond hair and blue eyes sometimes. Just depends on my mood.

So, since a very young age, I’ve always wanted to swim with dolphins and after seeing this movie, it really made me write it down on my bucket list. Just a few years ago, on a boat out in the Gulf of Mexico, I saw several dolphins in a pod and decided to jump out and swim with them. It was the most surreal thing ever. They swam around me and one even swam underneath me and I reached out just to touch its skin, which was smooth like silk, yet rubbery. It was just the most amazing experience. So now, whenever I’m out on any boat, I just jump off anywhere and some will usually come around. They are very personable and playful, more so than most individuals.

This scent is a tribute to all the girls everywhere, no matter who, or where you are, who were not the “chosen” ones for some reason or another. You are the chosen one now and can shine brightly like the star you are. But, just because I’m dedicating this scent to those gals, don’t be fooled. It’s definitely a scent anyone can pull off, guys too, if you’re a lover of neroli.
