I painted this little wood box (4 x 4 x 1.5") a deep purple shade, used a medium to give a distressed look and painted it with a light pebble gray shade. I smeared and blurred a variety of colors on the back. On top is a small brass drawer pull. Inside I placed an old stationary picture of a doll and then used a collage medium over it. I filled tiny glass vial with beads, painted an old thread spool and gave it a bit of embellishment. Other features are miniature plates and a teacup, a lantern, and a burlap flower.
This would make a nice gift for those who enjoy daintiness and have a fondness for old things Victorian.
This piece is handmade and one of a kind. There may be small imperfections, which is consistent with vintage and handmade items. Each box is made carefully with love and hopefully, will make you smile.
My shadowbox pieces are eclectic and made from combinations of used and found objects, vintage items, and store purchased finds. I try to upcycle with various pieces when allowable and mix them with modern pieces for a diverse and unique assemblage. This piece is equipped with a sawtooth hanger on back, but can stand upright all on its own. I've tried to capture the details in photos so please, look very carefully before purchasing.
